Application of natural henna:
- It is important you arrive to your appointment with clean washed hands, any lotions or oils that have been applied to your hands will act as a barrier and can affect the stain development.
- Clean and smooth skin helps to achieve a smoother application of henna, please exfoliate and remove hairs prior to your appointment if possible.
- The henna should be left on the skin for as long as possible (a minimum of 6 hours). The longer it is left on, the better chances of achieving a darker stain – staying warm can help achieve that.
- Do not do anything that will cause you to sweat (such as exercise, covering henna with a carrier bag, gloves or cling film as this will cause the paste to smudge.
Removal of natural henna:
- Scrape the paste off gently. You can use any oil to help do this but DO NOT wash off with water.
- Avoid usage of water for the next 24 hours.
- Once the paste is removed, applying Vicks (Vapour Rub) all over your henna regularly can help achieve a dark stain as it contains heating properties (optional)
- Your stain will be light at first and may appear orange but will develop over the next 24 – 48 hours depending on body temperature and chemistry. Please be aware that henna stains can vary on different skin tones.
- Avoid scrubbing/exfoliating the area where the henna has been applied for a long lasting stain.
